EUGENE, Oregon (KMID/KPEJ) – Midland High graduate Bryce Hoppel qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics after emphatically winning the Olympic Trials 800-meter finals with a record time of 1:42:77.

Hoppel will compete in his second-career Olympics after winning back-to-back U.S. national championships and an indoor world championship.

The 26-year-old did not advance beyond the semifinal race at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and finished overall 16th place.

The first round of the Olympic 800-meter race is on August 7.
