    Heather Bredimus announces candidacy for Midland City Council District 1

    MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- Heather Bredimus, a community leader in multiple organizations, foster parent, and native Midlander, announced that she will be running for Midland City Council.

    Heather Bredimus announced her candidacy for Midland City Council District 1 on Monday, July 22. Bredimus said that she is a “passionate community leader and courageous communicator, who is known for her honesty, integrity, and determination to serve others, especially the most vulnerable and at-risk populations.”

    Bredimus stated that for “the better part of two decades”, has served the community through several organizations that she founded.

    Bredimus stated that she founded a support group through the St. Joseph’s Ministry for foster/adoptive families and developed a program to mentor foster youth who have aged out of the child welfare system.

    According to the candidacy press release, “her experience as a foster parent has provided numerous opportunities for Heather to create meaningful support systems for foster children and adoptive families.”

    Bredimus is an advocate for rape victims with the Crisis Center of West Texas, an award-winning volunteer with the Midland Community Theater, President-Elect for the Rotary Club of Midland, a board member for the League of Women Voters, serves as a member of the Citizens Development and Hotel/Motel Advisory Board for Midland and the creator of many local non-profits, including “Thank A Healthcare hero.”

    In Bredimus’s candidacy announcement, she stated that she hopes to make Midland the best place to live.

    “I am hopeful that my history of servant leadership and goal to make Midland the best place to live and raise a family will resonate with my fellow community members,” Bredimus said. “I aim to better represent the needs and expectations of everyone in our community. I promise to be transparent, honest, and respectful, communicating how we are working towards solutions.”

    Bredimus also said that she plans to ensure that tax dollars are spent for the benefit of residents. “I plan to tackle the tough issues like prioritizing public safety and supporting our first responders, planning economic development and strategic growth, and ensuring that our tax dollars are being spent in a manner that benefits all Midland residents.”
