AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar has announced the annual Sales Tax Holiday, set for August 9-11, 2024, allowing shoppers to purchase qualifying items tax-free. The tax-free weekend applies to most clothing, footwear, school supplies, and backpacks sold for less than $100, whether bought in-store or online from Texas-based sellers. "The Comptroller encourages all taxpayers to support Texas businesses while saving money on tax-free purchases," stated the press release.

FDA approves first ever medicated feed for wild quail created by Texas Tech professor
A Texas Tech professor's nine-year effort research effort to develop an anthelmintic drug for parasite control in wild quail populations has gotten the final nod of approval from the FDA. According to a release from the FDA, the drug will be integrated with feed and is effective in controlling parasites in wild quail in their natural habitat. Severe weather is not expected but thunderstorms could produce 40 mph winds.A cold front will move through the area Monday and generate spotty showers during the morning drive, and scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon hours. The latest model trends have the front stalling out further south of DFW, keeping higher rain chances to our southeast where there is more moisture.While spotty showers are still possible in North Texas this week, we have lowered rain chances a bit. The increase in cloud cover will keep temperatures a little below normal, mainly in the lower 90s for afternoon highs.
