Two Georgia firefighters disappeared. Bodies found in car days later, Tennessee cops say

The bodies of two Georgia firefighters have been found nearly a week after they disappeared, police say.

Raegan Anderson and Chandler Kuhbander, along with Anderson’s car, were discovered Sunday , June 30, nearly 400 miles away in Cocke County, Tennessee, according to the Hinesville Police Department.

Cocke County deputies confirmed two bodies were found in a vehicle on a road in Cosby.

“Details pertaining to the discovery of their bodies, vehicle and events leading to their deaths are not available at this time,” Hinesville police said in an update on Sunday.

Anderson and Kuhbander were both firefighters with Liberty County Fire Services Station #1 in Midway, Georgia. Authorities said that’s where Anderson was last seen.

Kuhbander, a senior firefighter with the department, was last seen early June 25 leaving a gym in Savannah, WTOC and WSAV reported , citing authorities.

McClatchy News reached out to the Hinesville Police Department for more information June 28 and was awaiting a response.

In a tribute posted online, Liberty County fire officials described Anderson and Kuhbander as “two extremely dedicated employees.”

They “put their hearts and souls into protecting and serving the citizens of Liberty County,” the department wrote on Facebook. “Our prayers, and those of the department, are with the families during this most difficult time.”

Anderson’s and Kuhbander’s bodies have been sent for an autopsy, Tennessee deputies said.

Cosby is about a 60-mile drive southeast from Knoxville.
