Former Michigan staffer Connor Stalions , has found his way back into the football scene, but not at the collegiate level. Stalions stepped down from his analyst position with the Michigan Wolverines in 2023 after allegations of improper scouting. In-person scouting of future opponents has been banned by the NCAA since 1994, originally to prevent larger schools from gaining an advantage over smaller schools that can’t afford to send individuals to perform in-person scouting.

For several months, Stalions seemed to disappear, until July of 2024 when it was announced that he would be featured in a new documentary . The documentary, titled “Sign Stealer” within the series “UNTOLD”, will be released on August 27th of this year and is expected to give a behind-the-scenes look into the situation that unfolded last season.

Connor Stalions will begin his position as defensive coordinator for the Detroit Mumford Mustangs this fall. The head coach of the Mustangs, William McMichael, told The Detroit News , “I got the most hated man in college football right now, Connor Stalions,” in reference to his recent hire.

Some college football fanatics are disgusted by this hire, believing that Stalions should no longer be affiliated with any football program. Others, however, have recognized this as not only an advantageous coaching hire but also a great publicity stunt for Mumford High School.

Is this the first stepping stone of Stalions’ path back into college football, or will he be confined to the high school level for the remainder of his career? Our first real insight may come this August with the documentary release — college football fans will have to wait and see.
