The season has officially commenced, and out of the gates some guys have started the Heisman Trophy conversation. I have the distinct honor of watching these guys and giving a comprehensive analysis of their game.

Each week, I will be doing a tale of the tape of two QBs whose performances were magnificent. First up we have Cam Ward from Miami and Carson Beck from Georgia. These two signal callers got the show started and never took their foot off the pedal. If this is any indication of the following weeks to come, then we are in for a treat this season.

    Cam Ward

Cam Ward, a transfer from Washington State, has made an immediate impact at Miami. In the game against Florida, Ward showcased an impressive performance, completing 26 out of 35 passes for 385 yards and three touchdowns, with one interception. In addition to his passing abilities, Ward displayed his dual-threat skills by rushing for 33 yards on three carries.

Prior to the season, there were questions about what Ward could bring to the Miami offense , and it seems like he has provided a compelling answer. The remaining question now is whether he can maintain this level of performance consistently. His debut as a Hurricane quarterback has been impressive, especially considering Miami's historical lack of consistency in the position. If Ward can sustain this performance, it could signify a new era for Miami Hurricane quarterbacks. There's a lot to like about Ward, his work ethic, and his character are the first two things that stand out. This young man can do it all, from the pocket, on the ground, you name it. He's one of my favorite signal callers this season and his draft stock is steadily rising.

Week two projection vs. Florida A&M:

I project Ward for 400 yards, 3 touchdowns, 8 carries, 55 yards, 1 touchdown. A and M comes off a close, hard-fought victory against Norfolk State, while Miami has found its identity. The A&M defense will have their hands full come game day.

Carson Beck, the emerging quarterback heading into his second season is also garnering attention as a top candidate for the Heisman trophy. While he faces criticism for his cautious approach and infrequent deep ball throws, I appreciate his calculated style. A quarterback who consistently moves the ball forward with precision is valuable.

Beck displayed his efficiency and decision-making during the game against a talented Clemson defense, completing 23 out of 33 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns. Additionally, he showcased his ability to gain yardage when needed, with three carries for 19 yards.

Week 2 projection vs. Tennessee Tech:

I project Beck to have a field day with 400 yards and four touchdowns. That offense is unstoppable when Beck is in rhythm. He's one of those guys who can create moments and use them to his advantage. Beck will be a high draft pick when his time comes. He has a few goals in mind , for why he came back. Those being winning a national championship, and maybe winning the Heisman while he's at it.

    Conclusion

While the season is finally back, it's still way too early to name a Heisman winner but we are all spoiled. We get to witness these talented athletes making a lot of plays and enjoying what they like to do. Additionally, there are so many good QBs out there, I have to give props where it's earned. As the season goes on, the level of competition increases. Time will be the determining factor this year in regards to the Heisman winner at the end of this season.
