St. Anthony’s Seminary has set the dates for one of El Paso’s most anticipated annual events: the St. Anthony’s Bazaar.

The once-a-year kermés is hosted by the Order of Friars on the sprawling grounds of the St. Anthony’s School of Theology located in a quiet Central El Paso neighborhood.

Started in 1963 as a way to raise money to pay the utilities for the seminary and to support the theological studies of Franciscan friars, the annual church bazaar has become both a family and Labor Day tradition for many El Pasoans.

The 2024 St. Anthony’s Bazaar will be the 61st year the Franciscan seminary holds the beloved fundraiser. The yearly festival remains how the religious order of friars makes most of the money to pay its bills and continue its teachings throughout the year.

    Cakewalks, Loteria, and Gorditas

Beginning August 31, the seminary grounds at 4601 Hastings in central El Paso will host cake walks, carnival-style games, Loteria, live entertainment, and booths selling gorditas and enchiladas.

If you've never been, I can assure you that parking in and around the neighborhood the seminary is located in will be at a premium so you might have to walk a few blocks, and the line for gorditas will be long, but it's part of the experience and oh so worth it.

The bazaar will take place over the Labor Day weekend from Saturday, August 31, through Monday, September 2, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day.
