The unofficial end of summer is upon us and whether you want to stay close to home or you’re up for a road trip, there’s something going on in and around El Paso for every taste – and taste bud.

    Kermeses and Water Parks

St. Anthony's Seminary will be hosting its annual St. Anthony’s Bazaar Saturday through Monday, August 31 – September 2.

It will be everything you know and love about El Paso’s beloved kermes: game booths, live entertainment, and those delicious gorditas and enchiladas El Pasoans regard in such high esteem.

St. Mark Catholic Church is also hosting a church bazaar over the Labor Day weekend.

Their yearly celebration is set for Friday, August 30 through Sunday, September 1 on the church grounds located at 1700 Pebble Hills.

The annual fundraiser has all the highlights of an El Paso kermes with the added entertainment of nightly concerts featuring El Paso favorites such as Fungi Mungle, Windy City, and Juan Gabriel tribute artist Hugo Cortes.

If water fun in the hot El Paso sun is more to your liking, you’re in luck. All the local water park attractions are getting in one last splash session.

The four city water parks will be open August 30 through Labor Day, as will the Swim Club at the Elmont. The newest entry on the water park scene is located in the Montecillo community on the westside.

It’s also Wet ‘N Wild Waterworld’s season finale. The 60-acre water park located just outside El Paso in Anthony will be open Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1 from 10 a.m. to 7p.m., and Labor Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Wine Down or Chile Out: Out of Town Festivals

Sip, swirl and taste the weekend away at the Harvest Wine Festival in Las Cruces. Live la vida vino at the Southern New Mexico State Fairgrounds August 31 – September 2 with New Mexico wineries, numerous food trucks, and live music daily.

If you're up for a longer road trip, "the Chile Capital of the World" is paying homage to its world-famous crop in Hatch, New Mexico. Say goodbye to summer with chile and ristras at the Hatch Valley Chile Festival Saturday and Sunday, August 31 – September 1.

Or bring summer to and end on Sunday with stunning mountain views and a drone and fireworks show at the End of Summer Bash in Ruidoso. The free all-ages event includes live music on the lawn, family-friendly activities, concessions and a fireworks and drone show over the lake after the sun goes down.
