Highway 169 roadwork between Milaca and Princeton starting this summer

    2024-05-18

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will resurface both directions of Highway 169 between Milaca and Princeton, replace pipes and reconstruct the access at Highway 169 and Mille Lacs County Road 8 in Pease starting in late July. Work will require detours.

    Summary of work

Pease - Early July to mid-September

    • Reconstruct into a J-turn access at Highway 169 and Mille Lacs County Road 8 (west of Highway 169 is Main Street; east of Highway 169 is 105th Street).

    • Replace stormwater pipes beneath road.

    • Install overhead intersection lighting.

    • Update pedestrian approaches and install a crossing in the median.

Milaca to Princeton - Late July to mid-October

    • Resurface both directions of Highway 169 (mill and overlay asphalt) between half-mile south of County Road 36 in Milaca and one mile north of County Road 29/North Rum River Drive in Princeton; includes shoulders and turn lanes.

    • Replace or repair pipes beneath southbound Highway 169.

During the project, detours and lane closures and changes may be required.

    Detour plans

Southbound Highway 169 will see a detour for pipe work beneath southbound lanes at off peak hours. The detour includes Highway 23 in Milaca, County Road 5, and County Road 13 in Long Siding.

In Pease, a detour is expected on County Road 8 during the construction of the J-turn. The detour includes County Road 5 and County Road 13. 105th Street will also be closed east of Highway 169. The detour for that route will be County Road 4 and County Road 13.
