Milam County Row Crop Tour set for June 28
The Milam County Row Crop Tour will take place on June 28. The event will begin with registration at 7:30 a.m. During the tour, participants will look through variety trials of corn, grain sorghum, and a RACE trial of cotton varieties. Dr. Ronnie Schnell, Associate Professor & Extension Specialist will discuss current issues in each crop as well as overview variety differences. Matthew Matocha, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Program Specialist at Stiles Farm will discuss weed and pest management through each as well. At the conclusion of the variety trial viewing, participants will head to the Buckholts Community Center and enjoy lunch provided by Thorndale Meat Market. This will be followed by a Milam County FSA update from Ruben Hernandez, Milam County Farm Service Agency Director. Dr. Mark Welch, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Economist, will then discuss current commodity market trends and updates. There will be two CEU hours provided for pesticide applicators; one in integrated pest management and one general CEU.
