Safe Outdoor Spaces Program to Expand
Roughly four months after the launch of the City of Santa Fe’s Safe Outdoor Spaces pilot program, city officials are looking to expand services. The City Council and Mayor Alan Webber approved a plan in March 2023 to purchase 25 pallet homes it intended to utilize for SOS sites with the help of up to $1 million from the American Rescue Plan Act. City officials unanimously approved contracts to establish and operate the first site in December 2023. Since April, Christ Lutheran Church has hosted 10 pallet shelters—housing 11 individuals and five pets—that include electricity, heating and cooling which The Life Link helps operate and connects people to additional services. Those agreements totaled $828,368.

Westbound lanes of I-70 opened about 4 p.m. Thursday at Ward and the east bound lanes will be open later tonight after a major crash which happened just as rush hour was winding down Thursday morning. Police Arrest Suspect in Denver Homicide
Las Cruces police arrested a shoplifting suspect Tuesday who had an active warrant for murder out of Colorado. Oscar Martinez, 48, from Denver, Colo., was arrested by Las Cruces police shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 13, near the intersection of Roadrunner Parkway and Foothills Road.
