    Big Lots is closing dozens of stores, many near Delaware

    Big-box retailer Big Lots recently announced the closure of dozens of locations by the end of the year, and while the lone Big Lots in Milford will remain open, four other Big Lots near Delaware are scheduled to close.

    Is Big Lots closing in Delaware?

    Big Lots has five locations in Delaware: Dover, Wilmington, Seaford, New Castle and Milford.

    None of the stores are listed as closing.

    However, several stores in nearby states are expected to be shut down.

    Which Big Lots locations are closing in Maryland?

    There are 27 Big Lots locations in Maryland , and according to the location finder on Big Lots website , three locations there are scheduled to close before the end of the year.

    The Big Lots in Laurel , at at 3331 Corridor Marketplace is scheduled to close, as is the Big Lots store in Lexington Park , located at 21800 N Shangri La Drive and the Reisterstown location.

    The website for all three Big Lots stores in Maryland that are closing are running a banner announcing the closure and a 20% off sale on remaining stock.

    Which Big Lots locations are closing in Virginia?

    There are 42 Big Lots locations in Virginia , and according to the location finder on Big Lots website , two locations in Virginia are also scheduled to close before the end of the year.

    The Fredericksburg Big Lots at 736 Warrenton Road is scheduled to closed, along with the Manassas Big Lots , which is located at 7743 Sudley Road.

    Why is Big Lots closing?

    Big Lots announced in its filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission plans to open three new stores while closing up to 40 locations before the end of the year.

    It its filing, Big Lots pointed to declining revenue due to a drop in net sales, along with prolonged sales slides across Big Lots' home furnishings division.

    Big Lots also lost money through declining sales of consumables, food and seasonal items.
