Bayhealth has kicked off their Go Pink! campaign

As September comes to an end, Bayhealth is looking toward October which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to the American Cancer Society, there have been 1,140 diagnoses of breast cancer and 160 deaths in Delaware this year. In an effort to not only reduce the number of breast cancer diagnoses in the state, but also to find more treatments to fight the illness, Bayhealth launched the 2024 Go Pink! campaign.

“We’ve been fundraising this way for nearly 20 years because it works! Year after year, our team members and community members continue to rally around Go Pink! and their support saves lives,” John Shevock, FACHE, FACMPE, Executive Director of the Bayhealth Cancer Institute, said. ‘I’m proud of the impact we’ve made to date and look forward to seeing what 2024 brings.”

Community members can participate by purchasing a specially designed t-shirt for a $20 donation and wearing them all month to support breast cancer awareness. All proceeds will be shared with the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC). Bayhealth and DBCC will use the funds to provide breast cancer screenings to underserved populations and provide additional education about detection, treatment and prevention.

“We are proud to name DBCC as the Premier Partner of the Go Pink! effort,” Shevock said. “This is signified on the back of the shirt. As one of the leading breast cancer awareness and support organizations in the state, Bayhealth is proud to work alongside DBCC to serve the community.”

Shirts can be purchased online on the Bayhealth website or in person at the Community Pharmacies at either the Bayhealth Kent or Sussex campuses for cash. The shirts sell out quickly so they will only be available while supplies last.
