Milford School District is dealing with technology issues that are delaying bus assignments

Recent social media posts indicate that parents are having problems learning transportation information from Milford School District.  Many parents were commenting that when they checked online information, no bus transportation was assigned even though nothing had changed with their transportation over the summer.

“Milford School District is currently implementing the State of Delaware’s new Student Information System, Infinite Campus, as part of wave one,” Trish Gerken, Public Information Officer for the district, said. “As with any new system, there are challenges that arise. Unfortunately, we have encountered difficulties with the data integration between the State of Delaware bus routing system, VEO and Infinite Campus which has impacted our transportation routing.”

Understandably, parents are upset at the fact their child may not have bus service the first week of school.

“I’ve requested for over a month still to no avail, this is absolutely ridiculous they will not return calls, emails and I’ve been in person. I pay school taxes. I should not have to request transportation for my child to attend school or provide him transportation because they can’t get their stuff together,” Tammy L. Lane posted on social media the day before school began. “I have had 4 children in Milford School District over the years and never dealt with all the issues they seem to have in the past couple of years.”

Others claimed they were not informed that unless they requested transportation for 11 th and 12 th graders, those students would not be provided bus transportation. Information was placed on the district website and issued to news media, but parents stated they did not receive any information from the district directly.

Gerken explained that parents should verify their transformation information using this link. If the information is not correct, the district asks that they complete the form at this link .

“Please do not call the district office as we are presently working through these issues,” Gerken said. “A student ID can be found in the Infinite Campus portal. Our top priority is to ensure that all students arrive at and depart from school safely and efficiently so they can receive the best educational experience possible.”
