    School starts next month.

Hard to believe with all the heat and humidity that has overtaken the region. But there is no better time than now to look back at the fall, winter and spring seasons that brought athletes raising championship trophies and banners across the MetroWest and Milford areas.

If you’re not quite ready to think about classes and earlier sunsets just yet, this is just the thing for you.

We’re opening up a poll for the area’s top athletes for girls and boys as well as the top team for girls and boys from the 2023-24 year.

This one is for top female team. For a quick refresher, we had state champions on the soccer pitch, volleyball court, track, pool, wrestling mat and cross country course over the past academic year.

Voting ends Monday, July 29. Here’s our list of choices (alphabetically). Have at it:

    Ashland wrestling

The Clockers won the school’s first state championship for a girls team since softball won it all in 2009. Angie Nommi and Nora Quitt won individual Division 3 titles and captain Carly Larson, Raina Quitt and Ruby Khazadian each placed third.

Ashland finished second at All-States by just two points.

    Franklin outdoor track

Behind wins from four-time All-American Sarah Dumas (100 and 400 hurdles, pentathlon), Elizabeth Hopkins (javelin) and Lily DeForge (discus), the Panthers won the Division 1 state championship for the first time.

    Hudson softball

The Hawks did not win a state title, but they deserve a spot on this list. Hudson trailed Triton 9-0 in the fourth inning of an Elite 8 playoff game before heading into the bottom of the seventh inning trailing by just two runs. Audrey Lenox drove in the winning runs of an improbable 10-9 victory with a walk-off double.

Hudson also won in the state semifinals, but again fell behind 3-1 in the fifth inning. A Lenox double again provided the go-ahead run in a 6-4 win over Apponequet.

The Hawks fell in the title game, 4-3, to Dighton-Rehoboth.

    Holliston indoor track

Behind a 1-2-3 finish in the 1,000 meters by Carmen Luisi, Maggie Kuchman and Annabelle Lynch, the Panthers won their second indoor title. Luisi also won the mile and Kuchman placed second in the 2-mile.

    Natick soccer

First-half goals from juniors Kira Henderson and Cassidy Moriarty propelled the Redhawks to a 2-0 victory over previously unbeaten Bishop Feehan to complete a 21-1-1 in which their only loss was stopped just after halftime due to rain.

Senior captain and All-American Kaitlyn LeBrun helped Natick become the only team to shut out Feehan during the season.

    Tri-County wrestling

The Cougars won the Division 2 state championship at Algonquin behind individual wins from Luca Marshall and Madison Dowd in consecutive matches on the same mat. Kaylee Guimond battled back from a first-round loss to earn a pair of pins to place third.

Dowd won an All-States title a week later.

    Wellesley swimming

The Raiders were absolutely dominant, winning the Division 2 crown by nearly 200 points over second-place Chelmsford. Anne McGrew won the 50 and 100 free and was part of two winning relay teams.

    Wellesley indoor track

In winning the Division 2 championship for the seventh consecutive time, the Raiders used wins from Annie Comella (55 dash) and Charlotte Tuxbury (mile) and two relay victories to earn the title again. Wellesley finished 21.5 points ahead of Woburn.

    Wellesley outdoor track

The Raiders were at it again in the spring with their third consecutive outdoor title. Kayla Bohlin won the 800 and anchored the winning 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams. Charlotte Tuxbury set a meet record in the mile, won the 2-mile and was part of the 4x8 team. Annie Comella won the 100 and 200 and placed second in the long jump.

    Wellesley tennis

The Raiders defeated the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds in the Division 1 girls tennis tournament en route to its first state championship since 2016. Sarah Mackey, Bella Gopen, Kimmy Tai and the No. 2 doubles team of Mia Chung and Sari Hart won their matches against Boston Latin in the title match to compete a 20-1 season.

    Westborough volleyball

Completing a three-year span in which the Rangers won 63 of 65 matches, Westborough swept Canton to win its second Division title in a row . Seniors Pragna Shashidar, Addyson Moore, Joyce Li, Annabelle Semeter, Megan Tibbetts, Quinn Anderson and Maggie Cardin went out in style, completing a 21-1 season with five playoff sweeps.
