Nearly century-old building to become hub for music, art in downtown Ypsilanti
YPSILANTI, MI - A nearly century-old building in downtown Ypsilanti could see new life as a hub for musicians and artists to create, collaborate, perform and more. The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy put $477,500 toward developer Jamie Taralunga’s $7 million project to revitalize the contaminated building at 2 W. Michigan Ave., the department announced last week.
Multiple Wagoneers stolen from Warren Stamping Plant
WARREN, Mich. (FOX 2) - Thieves made off with around 10 Wagoneers from the Warren Stamping Plant early Monday. A group of thieves, possibly juveniles, smashed the fence at the plant with another vehicle at about 3 a.m. and made off with numerous vehicles. Two Wagoneers were recovered, police said.

Michigan picked fourth in Big Ten preseason media poll; favored to return to College Football Playoff
The Michigan football team has ruled the Big Ten over the last three years, going 29-1 against league opponents over the last three seasons, including 25 straight wins. But ahead of the 2024 season, the Wolverines are not favored by oddsmakers, analytics or pundits to win a fourth straight league title. Planned music venue on Michigan Avenue in Ypsilanti receives EGLE clean-up grant
A proposed artist and musical venue in Ypsilanti is closer to reality thanks to a brownfield grant from the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy. The proposed venue on the site of the old Materials Unlimited antiques store has been awarded an over-$477,000 EGLE grant. It will be used to pay for lead, asbestos, mold, and hazardous materials surveys, as well as interior and exterior demolition and abatement.
Michigan continues to build with transfer Robbie Hamchuk from San Jose State
After a few weeks of silence from Michigan coach Tracy Smith, he added his fifth transfer with outfielder Robbie Hamchuk from San Jose State. Hamchuk announced his commitment on X Thursday to join the Wolverines after spending his first four years with the Spartans. Hamchuk enters the Michigan dugout with one year left of eligibility looking to provide depth both at the plate and in the outfield.
