Ohio police officer goes ‘into action’ to help new mother and baby

MILFORD , Ohio (WCMH) — An Ohio police officer is being praised for going above and beyond his regular duties to help a new mom and her 1-week-old infant.

On social media, Miami Township police shared a video from Cpl. Hunter Willoughby’s body camera “due to increased interest” in a previous post about his good deed. The caption explained that after receiving a “frantic phone call” from a mother who could not feed her newborn, Willoughby “went into action.”

The clip shows Willoughby approaching a closed grocery store late at night, knocking on the door and shining a light inside to get workers’ attention. When a woman arrives at the door he explains that a mom whose milk dried up could not find anywhere open to buy formula. After being welcomed inside, Willoughby is directed by store employees to the formula aisle and they helped him select the right size baby bottles.

The post noted Willoughby “delivered the items to the appreciative mother and he refused to accept any payment for the formula or bottles.”

Police Chief Mike Mills called Willoughby’s actions “an example of the Miami Township Way” in the post.
