Marijuana grow operation broken up in Hughesville
Hughesville, Pa. — Lycoming County detectives took down a marijuana grow operation up in Hughesville this month. According to investigators, a home in the 300 block of S. Second Street belonging to Richard Al Thompson, 45, had 12 plants and several pounds of the marijuana inside. Harvested plants, UV lights, potting soil, and dead marijuana plants were also taken by investigators, according to the complaint. Thompson is being charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession. He is free on $15,000 unsecured bail. Penn State Teamsters Ratify New 4-Year Contract
Members of the union representing about 2,500 technical service employees at Penn State voted overwhelmingly to ratify a new contract with the university. Nearly a month after the Teamsters Local 8 bargaining committee reached a tentative agreement with the university, members voted between July 22-26 by a margin of 1,569 to 176 to ratify the four-year deal. James V. Brown Library reveals seventh Little League pin
Williamsport, Pa. — The James V. Brown Library has released its seventh Little League trading pin. The library has created pins for the past seven years, with this year's pin, "BOOK hits a homerun" designed by Jamie Mahoney, the library’s graphic artist. For sale now, the pins are $5 each and can be purchased by cash or check at the library’s help desk. All pins can be purchased with cash or check. A small number of 2023 pins are available for $3 each. All proceeds from the pin sales support the library.
