Two deceased in Redings Mill shooting, isolated incident

REDINGS MILL, Mo. (KOAM) — Details are now emerging on a murder-suicide that occurred over the weekend.

Just before 10 p.m. Saturday night Newton County Central Comm received a 911 call, “ from an individual stating he had shot his wife multiple times, and she was deceased ,” Newton County Sheriff’s office state on Monday. “ The caller also stated he was going to shoot himself .”

Neighbors tell us police had surrounded a house in the 200 block of Clark Road and used a bullhorn to attempt contacting their neighbor by name, Bill Clanton.

“Newton County Special Response Team arrived and made entry into the residence and found a 65-year-old female, later identified as Vicki Clanton, deceased on the floor with what appeared to be multiple gunshots. A 62-year-oldmale, later identified as William Clanton, was found on the floor deceased with what appeared to be a single fatal gunshot.”

Newton County Detectives responded to process the scene.

Next of kin have been notified. Investigation revealed William “Bill” Clanton shot and killed Vicki Clanton. William Clanton was the caller to 911 who then committed suicide.
