Williamsport, Pa. — UPMC in North Central Pa.'s prehospital services team, the Susquehanna Regional EMS, recently received recognition from the American Heart/Stroke Association. The 2024 Mission: Lifeline EMS Gold Achievement Award acknowledges the EMS team's continued success in using the Mission lifeline program, which showcases prehospital emergency responses to heart attacks and strokes. “This recognition demonstrates our team’s continued commitment to clinical excellence, providing outstanding care along with early notification to the emergency departments that they transport to,” said Tony Bixby, chief, SREMS, and director, Prehospital Services, UPMC in North Central Pa. “This great work has undoubtedly improved patient outcomes and saved lives throughout the north central region of Pa.”

Annual Cherry Fest comes to a hot, sweet conclusion
The 77th annual Fireman’s Cherry Festival will soon end with a spark. Hundreds of people lined the streets of downtown North East for the annual parade. It’s the fire department’s way of giving back to the community for the generous support shown throughout the festival and year. It’s also said to be the largest volunteer fireman’s parade in Pennsylvania.
North East Cherry Festival Wraps Up
The North East Cherry Festival wrapped on Saturday. The day began with the 25th annual 5K where runners or walkers to could enjoy the three-mile course in downtown North East. Over 200 people participated. After the race, people could enjoy snacks and ice cream. The money raised goes to the school. The 5K was in honor of two girls killed twenty-five years ago.
