Hey all you huntin mentors out there! Here's your chance to make an impact on a young hunters life. so read up on this, it's comin up quick!

Youth have many special ways to go hunting this fall, and hunting opportunities facilitate positive outdoors experiences for them. Youth who want to hunt in Minnesota have several opportunities this fall in addition to the regular hunting seasons.

“These hunting opportunities are designed for youth to have positive hunting experiences and get dedicated time to learn outdoor skills,” said Benji Kohn, volunteer mentor program coordinator with the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. “Youth who take part in these hunts can make lifelong memories in the outdoors.”

Youth hunting opportunities and dates this fall that are in addition to regular hunting seasons are:

Take a Kid Hunting Weekend Sept. 21-22 – On this weekend, adult Minnesota residents accompanied by a youth younger than age 16 can hunt small game without a license but must comply with open seasons, limits and other regulations found in the Minnesota hunting regulations. www.mndnr.gov/regulations/hunting

Getting outdoors in pursuit of squirrels, rabbits and other small game is the focus of Take a Kid Hunting Weekend.

The next opportunity is the youth deer season – Oct. 17-20, statewide season for youth ages 10-17.

Good luck out there and always be sure of your target, before putting your finger on the trigger!
