Woman allegedly steals tablet computer in Isle

On August 24, 2024, an officer with the Mille Lacs Tribal Police Department responded to a call from an adult male stating the theft of his tablet computer, and reported that the tablet was stolen by Andrea Shane Bushey, 33 of Minneapolis.

The officer contacted the male by phone, and he stated that on August 18, 2024, he was driving on the roadway when he noticed Bushey walking along the side of the road. He said he had not known her prior, but elected to help her by offering her a ride. Bushey accepted, and the two drove to Bushey’s father’s residence near the Chiminising Community Center in Isle, in Mille Lacs County. He dropped Bushey off at the residence, but then she ran back to his vehicle because she had forgotten her wallet. The two exchanged phone numbers and Bushey returned to the residence and appeared to “break in” to it.

The male stated that he noticed his tablet computer that he had had with him was missing the following day. The tablet was a Samsung Galaxy S9 FE 5G, and he provided the officer with a receipt for the tablet. The tablet, along with its protective cover and insurance amounted to $706.14. The male had used a “Find My Device” application to trace the location of the tablet computer, and it appeared to be present at the aforementioned residence near the community center.

Bushey was not able to be located by law enforcement. The tablet, at present, has not been recovered. Bushey has an open Aggravated Robbery in the First Degree court file in Mille Lacs County, and has several prior convictions for theft.

If convicted, this felony offense carries a maximum sentence of 10 years or $20,000, or both.
