    Meet the Clean Up the Lake Team: An open house for Colin West and his team at Clean Up the Lake (CUTL) will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, 5:30–8 p.m. at Da Boathouse, 43469 Vista Rd., Isle. The CUTL team, whose visit is funded by the Clean Water Land and Legacy Amendment, will be scuba diving from Sept. 16-29 to identify garbage “hot spots” in Mille Lacs Lake. Weather permitting, they’ll have underwater video and pics. They’ll also have CUTL swag. For more info about CUTL, visit: cleanupthelake.org/

    Clean Up the Lake Litter Sorting Event: Volunteers Needed — Interested in seeing what kind of garbage Clean Up the Lake (CUTL) found in Mille Lacs Lake? Join us to sort, identify, weigh and record the items they’ve retrieved on Friday, Sept. 20, and Thursday, Sept. 26, from 2-5 p.m. at Isle Schools, 750 5th Ave. S, Isle, in the north parking lot by the ice skating rink. This process helps gather data vital to the future protection of Mille Lacs Lake.

    Olde Tyme Fall Fest: Crafters, artisans, artists, authors and all others are encouraged to participate in the annual Olde Tyme Fall Fest, Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Mille Lacs Lake Museum, 4th and Main, downtown Isle.     Mille Lacs Lake Senior Activities: meets the fourth Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Rolf Olsen Center in Onamia. Come in and enjoy a meal and share activities. Information: Alice 612-760-1333.

    EXTRACURRICULAR

    Weekly pickleball: 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays at the Onamia Lions Center, with play going for up to two hours. All skill levels are welcome. A Tuesday evening session will be added at 6 p.m. there is enough interest.

    Isle Pickleball: outdoors at the new 8-court Isle Community Pickleball Center. Open playtime is from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. If possible, please sign up at Playtime Scheduler.com

    The Mille Lacs Health System Auxiliary: Meetings are the first Tuesday of each month at 3 p.m. in the Mille Lacs Health System hospital complex in Onamia. 320-277-6101.

    Mille Lacs Area Patch Workers Quilt Club: meetings are the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m., Wahkon Fire Hall. All quilters welcome. Information: Kathy 320-676-3359.

    VFW Auxiliary 955 meeting: the third Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. at the Vets Club in Onamia.

    FOOD PANTRY

    Isle Food Shelf: Open the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Isle City Garage.

    Onamia: Ruby’s Pantry is held the first Monday of the month from 9:30-11 a.m. or until gone at the Onamia Community Center, 806 West Kathio Street. $25 for a bundle donation to receive a cart full of groceries.

    Fare for All: low-cost food sales are monthly, first Wednesday, at Onamia Vet’s Club, 38692 Hwy. 169.. Open to all, no registration required. Affordable frozen meals and fresh produce included. Cash, credit, debit and SNAP accepted. Information: fareforall.org

    Garrison Area Caregivers Food Shelf: open every Tuesday 1-5 p.m., 9541 Madison Street (across from the Walleye!).

    SUPPORT GROUPS

    The American Parkinson Disease Association: A free new 8-week support group for people who have been living with Parkinson’s disease for more than 5 years, and their care partners, is planned. Topics covered in the group include healthcare, planning for the future, safety at home, mood and behavior, and maintaining hope, and more. The group will meet virtually via Zoom on Mondays, from Sept. 9 to Oct. 28, 2024, 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon.     The Brainerd Lakes Area Parkinson’s Disease Support Group: Meeting will be on Thursday, Sept. 5, 1 p.m. at Lord of Life Church, 6190 Fairview Drive, Baxter.
