Aces of Trades: Fawn Hitchcock-Hall's desire to help others led to An Acupuncture Approach

MILLERSPORT – It all started after a car crash.

“When I was a kid, I dreamed of helping people,” Fawn Hitchcock-Hall said. “I wanted to help those who had nothing to help them. I dreamt of being a pharmacologist to create new medication to help those who weren’t getting relief. Little did I know there was a whole different plan for me to help.”

Today, Hitchcock-Hall owns and operates An Acupuncture Approach in Millersport.

“I chose the name because I wanted it to be another approach to health and wellness plans,” she said. “I’m a diplomat of acupuncture with the National Commission and Certification for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and a licensed acupuncturist by the state of Ohio Medical Board.”

Hitchcock-Hall grew up in Hebron, graduated from Lakewood High School, then Ohio State in Newark with a degree in pharmacology.

“My plan was to help create new medications for those who weren’t getting relief from their health problems,” she said.

“But my studies changed after being a passenger in several auto accidents,” she said. “I started at Central Ohio Technical College and graduated with an associate degree in computer programming. Then I went to the American Institute of Alternative Medicine to pursue a master’s degree of acupuncture.”

“After graduating from COTC, I realized I wouldn’t be able to work sitting at a desk full-time with the pain I was still in, getting little to no relief with the medications and surgeries” she said. “After my pain management doctor told me there wasn’t anything he could do for me besides prescribe medication, I felt hopeless. Then, he asked if I had ever tried acupuncture. I hadn’t, so he referred me to Dr. Teresa Quinlin. After my first treatment, I had more relief from my pain than I was getting from the medications. In that moment I felt like I found the ancient Chinese secret.

“I started a career in acupuncture after the impact it had on my body and life,” Hitchcock-Hall said. “I went to school for acupuncture at AIAM, graduated in 2009. I then passed the national board exams and became licensed in 2010. I started my business, An Acupuncture Approach, in 2010.”

Gwen Wallace started as a client in 2011.

“Fawn is professional, caring, gifted and dedicated to her goal to share the gift of healing,” Wallace said.

“I felt like I was led to acupuncture for a reason,” Hitchcock-Hall said. “I knew acupuncture was a way for me to feel better, and I knew I wanted to help others, especially those like me who felt like there was nowhere else to turn to get relief from their symptoms.

“I help others because it’s something we should all do,” she said. “Through all the pain and suffering, I found my path of how I can help others. I love what I do; I have a passion for it. I’m more than grateful for where life has led me.”
