A local cookie shop is opening its first brick-and-mortar bakery in Millington .

Led by husband-and-wife team Jack and McKenzie Dwyer , 2KC Cookie Co. will soon debut at 7969 B St , taking over the former site of Sweets and Joi.

The idea for 2KC was born when Jack, after driving 50 minutes to pick up a cookie order for his son’s birthday, recognized the need for quality cookies closer to home. Through experimenting with various recipes and ingredients, he perfected their signature “cookie stick” and royal icing.

“We started 2KC Cookie Co. to show appreciation for the most important aspects of our lives—our kids,” McKenzie told What Now Memphis . “2KC is a play on our three children’s names, and rightfully so, since they are the very reason that we do what we do.”

The 2KC menu will feature cookie sticks, as well as a variety of other high-quality cookies in different sizes and flavors. In addition to sweet treats, the Dwyers will offer espresso and coffee beverages.

The shop itself will blend modern and cozy elements, with warm, welcoming tones throughout. A kids’ room stocked with games and toys will be situated next to the main dining area, allowing children to play while parents enjoy cookies and coffee. Additionally, locals can expect a range of community events that will bring everyone together, promoting a sense of celebration and belonging.

Both veterans who share immense pride in their community and country, the Dwyers source their merchandise, coffee, and even aprons from veteran-owned businesses. “We want to keep our support in our community—both local and veteran… Our goal is to foster an environment that our family and friends can be proud of,” said McKenzie.

While the official grand opening date has not yet been announced, 2KC Cookie Co. is scheduled to debut sometime next month, in August 2024.
