Moscow Board Does not Have a Quorum for the Fourth Time
The City of Moscow called a special called meeting on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, to discuss two resolutions. Present were Mayor Brenda Mitchell, Vice-Mayor Tony Kennon, and Alderman Tiffany Johnson, along with city attorney Tom Minor. Absent were Mary Hodge, Maxine Griggs, and Lamika Hurt. This was not enough for a quorum and is the fourth straight meeting without one. City business has not been conducted the last four meetings. The two resolutions were #24-072401 to accept the resignation of Alderman Billy Tice and declare an alderman vacancy on the board. The second resolution #24-072402 was to request the Fayette County Election Commission to call an election on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Positions open are Mayor and 3 alderman who were elected in 2020. Other cities in the county called for their elections much earlier. After waiting about 8 minutes, Mayor Mitchell stated this meeting will be delayed and continued later.
