DNR reports wolf attacks on Spanish mustangs in Bayfield County
Several Spanish mustangs have been attacked by wolves in Bayfield County over the past couple months, according to the Department of Natural Resources. Reports obtained by the Daily Press indicate a Spanish mustang mare was attacked on June 16 and a Spanish mustang foal was attacked on July 14. DURAND, Wis. (WEAU) - This year Blues on the Chippewa will be ON the Chippewa. The long-running music festival will be held in a new location this year, Veterans Memorial Park in Durand, on the shore of the Chippewa River. The event is free to attend and runs August 1-3. Donations are accepted to support community organizations. In the past, the event has supported the Durand Area Food Pantry, Brent Titus Music For Children Program, Pepin County Humane Society, seniors citizens programs, Durand Women’s Club ‘Fill a Backpack Program’, and the Pepin County Historical Society.
A shelter in place order is in effect for Village of Amherst residents
AMHERST, Wis. (WJFW) -- The Stevens Point Chief of Police is asking residents in the Village of Amherst to shelter in place. Thursday night several police agencies are working together in the Amherst area to serve a warrant to apprehend a wanted person who they believe is armed and dangerous.
