Plea entered for suspect in fatal shooting of Altoona man
EAU CLAIRE COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) - A plea is entered for one of the three suspects charged in the fatal Sept. shooting of an Altoona man in Eau Claire on Sept. 17, 2022. Online court records show 28-year-old Kemone Golden pleads no contest to a count of felony murder (party to a crime) and a count of possession of a firearm by outstate felon. The remaining charges are dismissed and read in. The court orders a pre-sentence investigation on the count of felony murder.

Stevens Point journalist honored for 50 years of service
STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAW) - What started as a small role working on his Boy Scout troop’s newsletter, parlayed into a lifelong passion in journalism for Gene Kemmeter. The long-time community journalist was honored by Stevens Point Mayor Mike Wiza for his extraordinary contributions to the community. Kemmeter was recognized Thursday which the mayor proclaimed ‘Gene Kemmeter Day’.
Rollingstone veteran accepts Quilt of Valor
William “Bill” Schell, of Rollingstone, was presented a Quilt of Valor at the Winona American Legion. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1966 and went to Naval Station Great Lakes in Chicago for boot camp. He was on Brother Duty, with his brother Ed, on the USS Bayfield stationed in Long Beach, Calif., and had a tour to Vietnam for two years and 13 months as a welder. He was sent to welder school and then worked with the Navy Seal team for six months back in Vietnam on night boat duty in the open waters, which was a pretty dangerous job. In October 1969, Bill was discharged from active duty in the U.S. Navy.

WISCONSIN RAPIDS, Wis. (WSAW) - Kids will get an opportunity to get an up-close look at variety of trucks and other vehicles this weekend in Wisconsin Rapids. The 4th Annual Touch a Truck event is happening on Saturday at the Grand Rapids Lions Club, 3788 County Rd W, Wisconsin Rapids. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Spend the day viewing and interacting with all sorts of vehicles, including the Wood County armored vehicle, garbage trucks, ambulances, semis and many more. There will also be tractor rides, kids games, and raffles.
