MANASQUAN, NJ - Milltown Little League's 12U District 10 champs were supposed to take the field at the South Wall Township Little League on Saturday morning. Friday's afternoon rain, though, pushed back the start of the New Jersey Little League Section Three Tournament until Saturday evening to give the field a chance to dry out. The first games of the tournament were supposed to take place Friday.

Milltown plays the District 18 champs Toms River on Sunday at 10 a.m. Toms River defeated the host team and District 11 champs South Wall, 7-1 on Saturday night. The District 12 champs Nottingham play District 19 winners Lincroft at 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Due to the rain, a Sunday doubleheader will be necessary for one team. The losers of the game between Milltown and Toms River on Sunday morning will have to play at 12:30 p.m. against the losing team in the Nottingham/Lincroft game on Saturday. Just like the district tournaments, the sectional tournament is double elimination.

The winner of the New Jersey Section Three Tournament moves on to play in the New Jersey Little League State Tournament which begins on July 24. This year's state Little League Tournament is being played at the Freehold Township Little League. The winner of the state tournament advances to the National Regional Tournament in Bristol, Connecticut, beginning on August 2. The road to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania began with the New Jersey District Championships, which started at the end of June.
