MANASQUAN, NJ - With both teams facing elimination, Milltown Little League's 12U District 10 champs and South Wall Little League's District 11 champs took the field Monday night in the New Jersey Little League's Section Three Tournament. South Wall is the host team and had already lost to Nottingham in its tournament opener over the weekend. Milltown lost to Toms River on Sunday.

Since each team already had one loss, Monday night's match-up meant an exit for the loser in the double elimination tournament. In the end, it was Milltown's summer baseball season that ended and with it the hopes of advancing to the New Jersey State Little League Tournament in Freehold Township next week. South Wall defeated Milltown 4-2 to move on to face Toms River in another elimination game on Tuesday evening, weather permitting. Toms River, the District 18 champs, were upset by the District 19 champs Lincroft, 13-2 on Monday.

Lincroft is the only team in the NJ Little League's Section Three Tournament without a loss. The winner of Tuesday's game between Toms River and South Wall advances to the championship game on Wednesday at 7 p.m. against Lincroft. If Lincroft wins, the team wins the section three tournament and advances to the New Jersey State Little League Tournament next week. In the event South Wall or Toms River wins on Wednesday, there will be a winner-take-all game against Lincroft on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Milltown's 12U District 10 championship team included Nico Spisso, Robert Spicuzzo, Sufiyan Asrar, Harrison Bergamotto, Alex Green, Tadeyn Simpson, Ray Vetter, Sean Lynch, Joey DiStefano, Yesenia Quiles and Derek Boatman. Milltown's 12U champs are managed by Stephen Spisso and coached by Robert Spicuzzo and Rohail Asrar.

The team won Milltown Little League's fourth consecutive 12U District 10 title on a two-run, walk-off homer by Bergamotto against Sayreville. It capped off an exciting District 10 tournament where the team went 4-2 in pool play and dominated in the playoff round, winning the championship with a come-from-behind victory.
