Republican lawmakers pitch lottery sales, casino games on smart phones in Ohio
COLUMBUS, Ohio – Some Republican state lawmakers want to bring lottery tickets, plus blackjack, poker and other casino games to your smartphone. A small panel of lawmakers on Friday offered their recommendations on the future of gambling policy in Ohio – or specifically, what kinds of bets can be placed and where. While lawmakers landed in different places on the issue, three Republicans said it’s time to bring “iGaming” and “iLottery” to the state.

Ohio’s sales tax holiday has expanded to 10 days this year, running from July 30 to August 8. This sales tax holiday allows shoppers to make tax-free purchases on eligible items up to $500. Some Ohio lawmakers want to ease indoor smoking restrictions for cigar lounges despite Ohio's smoking ban. Rep. Richard Dell'Aquila, D-Seven Hills, and Rep. Rep. Adam Mathews, R-Lebanon, are supporting House Bill 530 which would provide cigar lounges with an exemption from 2006's Smoke Free Workplace Act.
