NFHS baseball rule changes: Adjustment made to pre-pitch sequence
High school baseball pitchers who do not receive signals from the catcher must now simulate taking a sign with one foot on the pitcher’s plate before proceeding with a pitch. This addendum to Rule 6-1-1 was the lone rule change forwarded by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Baseball Rules Committee and was subsequently approved by the NFHS Board of Directors. Edgerton hospital conducting physicals for student athletes at Milton clinic
Edgerton Hospital and Health Services’ Milton Clinic will host a sports physical day for local students from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 4. During the event, sports physicals will cost $35. Half of the fees collected will go to students’ athletic departments. Call 608-868-3526 to reserve an appointment time.

The Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin (GCAW) named Xander Wuertrich of Milton High School is a 2021 Academic-All State honoree. Students are submitted by GCAW coaches if they meet the following criteria: A cumulative GPA of at least 3.25.Participation in at least 75% of their team’s varsity matches.Sophomore, junior or senior.A student-athlete who has served as a great example to others, proving that athletic and academic success are not mutually exclusive.

Catcher Campbell earns all-district honors
Milton High catcher Alec Campbell earned second team All-South Central District baseball honors as selected by the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association. Campbell had earlier had been named the Badger South Conference player of the year. The Red Hawks junior hit .491 with a .842 slugging percentage. He had five home runs and 32 RBI. Defensively, he threw out six base runners and picked off four. Two other Milton High players earned honorable mention from the WBCA. Senior Ian Lilla hit .410, and senior pitcher Evan Jackson went 7-2. In addition to earning honorable mention for his play on the field, Milton’s Jackson also earned Academic All-District honors.
