Grants available from the Milton Fund
The Milton Fund is now accepting grant applications for its annual grant cycle. The application deadline is March 1. The Milton Fund aids projects or programs that enhance the arts, health and human services, historic preservation, education, economic development, senior services, etc. Charitable non-profit organizations serving the Milton area are eligible to apply. The Milton Fund has given back nearly $275,000 since the fund’s creation in 1996. The application form is at www.cfsw.org. Milton man arrested for possessing child pornography
MILTON — A 23-year-old Milton man was arrested on Dec. 20 for possession of child pornography. According to a news release, the Milton Police Department and the Rock County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant to a home on the 100 block of North Janesville Street, Milton. The Milton police department received a tip from the Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force in August, launching an investigation. As an ongoing investigation, the man’s name has not been released, as additional forensic analysis of the suspect’s electronic devices are pending, Milton Police Chief Brandon Sachse said on Thursday.
Sewer line backup flowed into Milton storm sewer
MILTON— A sanitary sewer line back-up Tuesday along St. Mary Street between Campus Drive and Parkview Drive, in Milton, sent 250 gallons of untreated sewage cup through a manhole. It overflowed into a nearby storm sewer, and then crews were able to stop it. According to a release, city staff was notified of the backup around 7 p.m. Tuesday. Crews were notified and the discharge was stopped by approximately 9 p.m. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has been notified. The risk to the public was deemed low. The situation continues to be monitored and all debris has been removed. The area has been cleaned and disinfected, according to the release.
Tree lighting ignites holiday spirit in Milton
MILTON – As part of its Merry Milton festivities, Milton kicked off its holiday weekend Friday, Dec. 1 with a tree lighting at North Goodrich Park. Holiday activities Friday night included a gingerbread house competition, hot chocolate, a food truck, bonfire, s’mores and cookie decorating. JANESVILLE — Three people have been arrested for soliciting prostitutes following a sting operation in Janesville in late October.
