    Boys hockey: Navigators rally past Milton

    The South Central Navigators halted a three-game losing skid with a 6-4 victory at Milton on Monday, Jan. 29, before losing to Muskego and Monroe.

    In the win over Milton, the Navigators outshot the Red Hawks 48-31 and turned a 4-3 deficit into a 6-4 lead with three goals in a span of six minutes in the third period.

    Kyle Theisen and Thomas Harke scored goals to put South Central on top 5-4. William Eckstein added an empty-netter for the final tally.

    Nicholas Rentmeister scored on the power play 4:47 into the game off an assist by Carter Brown to make it 1-0. Milton tied it about four minutes later.

    Eckstein, who finished with a hat trick, scored a pair of goals in the second period – including a power-play goal – to give the Navigators a 3-2 lead going into the third.

    But Milton notched two goals in a two-minute span to go on top, before the Navigators took over. Brendan Barrett also had an assist for South Central, as Mason Bieri saved 28 of 32 shots in net to get the win.

    South Central also lost 6-2 to Muskego on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

    Monroe 8, South Central 2

    The Cheesemakers scored five goals in the third period, as Monroe outshot South Central 70-8.

    Casey Coopman scored both goals for the Navigators, as Theodore Loeffelholz assisted on the second one.

    Bieri made 39 saves.
