    Police identify body found in Pumpkin Park

    UPDATE (3:04 p.m. on June 9, 2024) — The Milton Police Department has released an update on the body found in Milton Saturday.

    According to a post on the Milton Police Department Facebook page, the body has been identified as missing person Jerred Lee Melton, 42, of Milton.

    Melton’s car was parked in the grass next to the fishing pond where his body was found. His body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.

    No foul play is suspected at this time.


    UPDATE (7:21 p.m. on June 8, 2024) — According to a post on the Milton Police Department Facebook page, the body was found at the fishing pond across the road from the park. More information is expected to be released sometime tomorrow.


    MILTON, WV (WOWK) — Police are investigating after a body was found in Pumpkin Park in Milton Saturday.

    According to Milton Police Chief Joe Parsons, the body was reported around 4 p.m. Officers are currently on scene and the investigation is still underway.
