CABELL COUNTY, WV (WOWK) – Fair and festival season is well underway across the Tri-State, and on Wednesday, the Cabell County Fair officially kicked off in Milton.

Fair-goers say they’re excited for the week ahead. Gates open at 3 p.m. from now until Friday, and on Saturday, the gates will open at 11 a.m. for the last day of the fair.

For members of the Future Farmers of America, the fair is about more than just fun, music, food and the carnival. It helps them prepare for a career in livestock.

“I’m here showing my market hog,” said FFA member Madelynn Black. “I am through Milton Middle FFA. This is my first year showing a hog, actually. These fairs, and FFA and 4-H – it teaches kids a lot about the agriculture field so we can continue agriculture in the world to keep our world going.”
