The owner of Romeys in Franklin has purchased the former Wegner’s St. Martins Inn property

The former Wegner’s St. Martins Inn property in Franklin has a new owner.

That owner operates Romeys Place Bar & Grill at 7508 S. North Cape Road in Franklin.

The total value of the real estate transfer ― the former Wegner’s property at 11318 W. St. Martins Road ― was $500,000, according to online property records. The purchase was made June 20 and recorded five days later, records show.

The purchaser, Ricky’s Harrisburg Inn, LLC, lists Nathan Fabry as the registered agent. Fabry is also listed as the owner of Romeys, according to Franklin property records. The location of the LLC is listed as the address of Romeys.

The Journal Sentinel has reached out to Romeys to speak with Fabry about his plans for the property but has not heard back.

Romeys offers "homemade, fresh food made from scratch daily," according to the company website. The menu calls out its hand crafted burgers and says the bar and grill has "the best Bloody Mary in town."

Wegner’s St. Martins Inn, known for its fish fry, closed June 1.

Dennis and Kathie Wegner opened the inn in 1997. Dennis had experience working for 20 years at Mader’s Restaurant in Milwaukee and focused on German-inspired dishes. After 54 years in the restaurant industry, he said it was “time to hang up my spatula,” in a June 5 post on Wegner’s Facebook page .

“Over the past 26 years there are so many things to be thankful for including all of our amazing customers who have become friends and family and all our wonderful employees throughout the years,” the post said. “Without all of you our business would not have been a success.”
