Here's when UW-Milwaukee, Marquette, MATC and other local colleges start this fall semester

Summer is wrapping up in Milwaukee, and tens of thousands of students will soon return to the area's numerous colleges and universities for the fall 2024 semester.

Here are this year's start dates for higher education institutions in and around the city.

When does the fall semester start at UW-Milwaukee?

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's fall semester starts on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2024 . Classes end on Thursday, Dec. 12, and final exams take place on Dec. 14 and Dec. 16-21.

When does the fall semester start at Marquette?

Marquette University's fall term starts on Monday, Aug. 26, 2024 . The semester ends on Saturday, Dec. 14, with final exams from Dec. 8-14.

When does the fall semester start at Milwaukee Area Technical College?

Milwaukee Area Technical College's 16-week semester and 8-week quarter start on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024 . MATC's 12-week semester starts on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2024 .

The quarter ends on Monday, Oct. 14 , and the semester ends on Saturday, Dec. 14 .

When does the fall semester start at UW-Madison?

Fall semester at the University of Wisconsin-Madison starts on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2024 . Classes end on Wednesday, Dec. 11, and final exams take place from Dec. 13-19.

Here's when fall semester classes start at other Milwaukee-area higher education institutions:

• Alverno College: Monday, Aug. 26
• Carroll University: Thursday, Sept. 5 (undergraduate start date)
• Concordia University Wisconsin: Monday, Aug. 26
• Milwaukee Institute of Arts and Design: Monday, Aug. 26
• Milwaukee School of Engineering: Tuesday, Sept. 3
• Waukesha County Technical College: Monday, Aug. 19
• Wisconsin Lutheran College: Monday, Aug. 26

When does the fall semester start at UW System schools?

The semester starts at the University of Wisconsin System schools on either Tuesday, Sept. 3, or Wednesday, Sept. 4, depending on the school.

Fall semester starts on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at:

• UW-Platteville
• UW-Stevens Point
• UW-Whitewater

Fall semester starts on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at:
