Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers viciously booed for mentioning the Green Bay Packers at the DNC in Chicago

If there was any guarantee of boos Tuesday night at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago , it would be the mere mention of the Green Bay Packers.

Often, Wisconsinites and Illinoisans get along, but not when it comes to sports, especially football. The Packers' rivalry with the Chicago Bears goes back to 1921.

Just like every state in the union, it was Wisconsin's time to shine during the DNC's roll call vote to officially nominate Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz for the Democratic presidential ticket .

After House of Pain's "Jump Around!" blasted out the speakers at the United Center, Wisconsin's chosen representative of the cheesehead-wearing delegation, Gov. Tony Evers had the audacity to mention the Green Bay Packers in Chicago.

"Thank you, Badger Jason Rae, for all your good work," Evers began, referring to the Rice Lake native serving as secretary of Democratic National Committee. "As a proud governor of the great state of Wisconsin, we're home to the Green Bay Packers."

The arena then erupted into boos as Evers listed off more Wisconsin sports teams that are clearly having more success than Chicago teams in recent years.

"We're home of the Wisconsin Badgers," he said. "We're home of the Milwaukee Brewers and the Milwaukee Bucks."

Then, Evers would go on to deliver one of the more memorable roll call speeches in recent history, seemingly fumbling his words and losing his place when casting the state's delegates for Harris.
