Body of 22-year-old Sheboygan area man recovered from Wolf River in New London

The body of a 22-year-old Sheboygan area man was recovered Saturday morning, hours after he fell off the Pearl Street bridge in New London, according to a news release from the New London Police Department.

At 12:58 a.m., the New London Police Department received a call that the man had fallen off the bridge. His friends witnessed the fall, went into the water to try to save him but were unsuccessful, police said.

The New London police and fire departments, the Waupaca County Dive team, and the Waupaca and Outagamie counties sheriff's offices also unsuccessfully tried to find him. A drone was used to search the water.

In the morning, the Brown County Dive Team and its sonar equipment arrived to help.

At about 10:55 a.m., the Waupaca County Dive Team found the man's body in the Wolf River, not far from where he went into the water, according to the New London Police Department.

Police are not releasing his name while they work to notify his next of kin.
