Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz and Minnesota first lady Gwen Walz will be in Milwaukee on Labor Day, Sept. 2, the Harris-Walz campaign announced Tuesday.

Off the heels of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Vice President Kamala Harris and the Walz family will "blitz the country for a series of events in every battleground state," the campaign said.

Harris will travel to Detroit, Michigan, and appear with President Joe Biden in Philadelphia. Second gentleman Doug Emhoff will appear at a Labor Day event in Newport News, Virginia. Other campaign surrogates, such as Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, will visit North Carolina, Nevada and Georgia.

It's not yet announced where the Walzes will speak in Milwaukee, or what time they'll be in the city. One potential appearance is Milwaukee's Laborfest 2024 , which takes place Sept. 2 at the Henry Maier Festival Grounds and features a parade, music, bingo and a classic car show. Biden spoke at Laborfest in 2022 .

Walz was last in Wisconsin for a rally at Fiserv Forum on the second night of the convention. It will be Gwen Walz's first time headlining a campaign event in Wisconsin since her husband became Harris' running mate.

Former President Donald Trump's campaign is also pouring energy into the battleground state ahead of Labor Day weekend. On Thursday, Trump will host a town hall in La Crosse , his first event in the state since the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.

Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance was to appear in De Pere Wednesday to deliver remarks on the economy, inflation and energy.
