You may have heard that you're more likely to get struck by lightning than win a lottery jackpot.

While that's unfortunately true, one lucky lottery player beat the odds after purchasing a Powerball ticket earlier this week in Kenosha County. The Bristol BP gas station, at 20015 93rd St., sold a winning $2 million Powerball ticket Wednesday. The gas station was one of only two U.S. locations to sell a Powerball ticket of $1 million or more that day; the other was in Georgia.

According to the Wisconsin Lottery, the winning Wisconsin ticket matched five of five numbers (5-33-47-50-64) but not the Powerball (20). The ticket included the $1 Power Play option, turning a $1 million prize into $2 million because of the 2X Power Play multiplier.

The $2 million ticket is the largest prize ever sold at Bristol BP/Golden Country LLC. However, this isn't the first time someone has struck it big at the gas station. In 2023, the store sold an $18,000 Badger 5 jackpot; in 2018, it sold a winning $50,000 Powerball ticket, the lottery said.

The odds of winning a $1 million Powerballprize are 1 in 11,688,054. The odds of a 2X multiplier being drawn Wednesday night were 1 in 1.8, the lottery said.

"This is so exciting," Bristol BP/Golden Country LLC general manager Lisa Biederman said in a statement. "Powerball is a popular game here. We have a lot of regulars that play it weekly."

The win also benefits Biederman's store. Wisconsin Lottery retailers that sell winning tickets over $599 receive a 2% Retailer Performance Winning Ticket Incentive, up to $100,000.

Players have 180 days from the draw dates to claim their winnings. Information on how to claim a prize is available on wilottery.com . Players can also check to see if their ticket is a winner by using the Wisconsin Lottery mobile app, available on the App Store or Google Play .
