Oconomowoc native and proud University of Wisconsin grad Yuven Sundaramoorthy is representing his alma mater this weekend at the racetrack and his profession at the stadium.

Sundaramoorthy, who graduated from UW in December 2023 with a degree in computer science, is a rookie driver in the IndyNXT steppingstone series running along with the NTT IndyCar Series at the Milwaukee Mile.

To celebrate the homecoming – actually his second of the season after competing at Road America in Elkhart Lake in June – he’s sporting a helmet that’s a super realistic replica of a Badgers football helmet.

Sundaramoorthy had photos taken with the helmet Thursday night around Madison and planned to return Friday evening for the Badgers’ opener against Western Michigan.

His race is scheduled for 2:50 p.m. Saturday before the first of two IndyCar races this weekend.

The design is not painted but rather is a wrap, essentially a carefully fit decal, covered in a clear coat finish, he explained Friday (while wearing a Giannis Antetokounmpo Milwaukee Bucks jersey).
