Who we are. Where we go. What we need to know.

Things known to cause nausea: Sickness, food poisoning ... and Wisconsin sports.

The end of the Packers regular season opener took that to a whole other level Friday, with QB Jordan Love going down after being tackled by two Eagles defenders. After writhing in pain on the field, Love had to be assisted off .

THANK GOODNESS it ended up not being as bad as it looked from the screen. With a medial collateral ligament (MLC) sprain , it's likely that Love will need a couple of weeks to recover off the field, but, according to head coach Matt LaFleur, he's trying to return as quickly as possible.

We also have some ex-Packers quarterback news for you this week:

Aaron Rodgers, now with the New York Jets, is getting a three-part Netflix documentary . It's titled "Aaron Rodgers: Enigma" ... yes, really.

Oh, and BTW: Jack's American Pub, 1323 E. Brady St., has brought back its "Jets Lose You Win" promo . Happy football season!

    Let’s talk business

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but quite a few closures have been announced recently:

Hot Dish Pantry — known for nostalgic comfort food with a Midwest flair — has had quite the run. It started as a pop-up in 2021, joined 3rd St. Market Hall in 2022, then moved into a stand-alone in 2023. It made the JS list of best new restaurants in 2023 , and just last month, was highlighted in The New York Times' "The Burger Is a Portrait of America" for its Lucy Goosey burger. The restaurant, 4125 S. Howell Ave., will be open every day until its final day of business , which is Sept. 28. In the future, Hot Dish Pantry could potentially put on pop-ups offering bestsellers or frozen items for presale.

Lost Valley Cider Co.'s taproom introduced Milwaukee to cider years before it had any cideries of its own. Eight years later, on Oct. 20, it will be having its last day of business at 408 W. Florida St. According to Chandra Rudolph — who opened Lost Valley with her dad — they never "caught their footing" after the COVID-19 pandemic. Plus, Chandra wanted to put more energy into her new business venture, Paw Pass, a bar passport book that introduces locals to dog-friendly businesses.

Mere months after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, Sabrosa Cafe & Gallery in Bay View has quietly closed . It will be remembered for its eclectic breakfast and brunch menu, sunny interior, in-restaurant local art gallery and live music.

If you step inside a Kohl's, you might notice some of these new changes if you haven't already:

    1. Juniors will be moved to the front of stores to be closer to Sephora — which has proven to be lucrative — to promote crossover sales.
    2. An expansion of its in-store assortment of jewelry, also placed near Sephora.
    3. Space for dresses is being added to the front of stores and several new brands are being carried.
    4. More promotions during the fall and holiday season.
    5. Select locations will be adding a Babies 'R' Us inside.

"Disappointed" by Q2 sales , the department store chain is hoping that these adjustments will boost sales heading into its busiest time of year.

    Out and about

More than 140 locations will be a part of Doors Open at the end of the month. That includes some that rarely welcome behind-the-scenes visitors or tours. New participating sites will include Davidson Park, Baird Center North Building, Bronzeville Center for the Arts and WUWM Milwaukee in the Chase Building. To help plan out your excursion, here's what to know .

In celebration of Mexican Independence Day, United Migrant Opportunity Services (UMOS) will host its annual festival and parade Sunday. The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. ( here's the route ). And, the fest — with live music, food vendors, carnival attractions and community resources — will be held at 2701 S. Chase Ave. from noon to 8 p.m.

Time sure flies! Tonight marks the last Milwaukee Night Market of the season . Expect more than 100 vendors, artists and performers. Local businesses participating in the event include artists, restaurateurs, crafters and makers. Starting at 5:30 p.m., there will be performances by Gego Y Nony, Native American dance troupe Mino Aki, a fire performance by Taylor Flows and DJ sets from DJ Style and DJ Shawna, according to a news release. The market — which runs from 5 to 10 p.m. — is located on West Wisconsin Avenue, in front of 3rd St. Market Hall between 2nd Street and Vel R. Phillips Avenue.

The Milwaukee County Zoo has several free-admission days coming up: Oct. 5, Nov. 2, Dec. 7 and Dec. 26-30. Note: Parking, concession and attraction rates still apply.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds will be playing the Miller High Life Theatre on April 30. The show is part of a North American tour behind "Wild God," which came out late last month and is among the best-reviewed albums of the year. The Australian singer-songwriter's solo show at the Riverside Theater last year landed him on the JS' best concerts of 2023 list .

    Don’t go hangry

By simply dining, drinking or ordering takeout from one of these local restaurants or bars on Sept. 12, you'll be supporting the Dining Out for Life fundraiser , which helps people living with or affected by HIV. On that day, 10% to 50% of sales will be donated to Milwaukee's Vivent Health, one of the nation's top HIV care providers, in support of its food pantry. Here's a list of participating businesses .

    Here are the talkers

If you stream Bucks and/or Brewers games instead of tuning in via a cable or satellite package:

Amazon is reportedly in "late-stage talks" for a contract to livestream several Bally Sports broadcasts , including the Bucks and Brewers. The new service could launch in October and would be expected to cost around $20 per month. Currently, the only way to stream the games is through the Bally Sports+ app, which local consumers are often frustrated with the functionality of.
