Christian Watson wants Romeo Doubs to know one thing as he returns this week following a one-game suspension:

"Nothing but love and open arms for our guy," Watson tweeted on Friday in reply to a video that included part of Doubs' interview at his locker on Friday, his first comments since his unexcused absences from practice last week .

Watson included a hand heart emoji in his post.

Watson and Doubs came into the NFL together when they were both draft picks by the Packers in 2022. Watson was a second-round pick and Doubs a fourth-rounder . They're part of a young core of talented playmakers on offense.

But after skipping practice last Thursday and Friday ahead of the Packers' game against the Los Angeles Rams, Doubs was suspended by the team, a somewhat unexpected development.

In announcing the suspension last Saturday , general manager Brian Gutekunst said in a release that Doubs' decisions and actions "negatively impacted the team and required us to take this action."

Doubs said Friday he "had some things going on mentally."

Doubs, who returned to practice on Wednesday , didn't reveal a lot more about what he's going through but when asked if he's OK in regard to his mental health he said he appreciated the question and that he's "doing fine."

"I’m just thankful that I’m still here," Doubs said. "It’s a great staff, great players, great support.”

The third-year wide receiver expressed remorse for how he handled the situation and reiterated that his absence didn't have anything to do with the team.

"I said there were some things going on off the field," Doubs said. "So as far as just the organization and just the staff, players, there’s nothing going on in that area."

Doubs will be back on the field when the Packers play the Arizona Cardinals in a Week 6 game on Sunday at Lambeau Field.
