Make it 2 for 2 for William Contreras.

On the heels of a career season, the catcher has been named the Milwaukee Brewers ’ most valuable player for the second straight year as selected by the Milwaukee chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Contreras hit .281 with 23 home runs in 92 runs batted in over 155 games en route to earning his second straight all-star nod and first as a starter. The 26-year-old led the Brewers in batting average, runs (99), hits (167), doubles (37), on-base percentage (.365), slugging (.466), OPS (.831) and walks (78).

He’s the second straight repeat winner of the award, joining Willy Adames (2021 and 2022).

Two rookies – right-hander Tobias Myers and outfielder Jackson Chourio – also earned mention with Myers being voted most valuable pitcher and Chourio unanimously voted top newcomer.

Myers, 26, went 9-6 with a 3.00 in 27 games, with 25 starts. He’s the fifth rookie to be so honored in franchise history, joining Pete Ladd (1983), Teddy Higuera (1985), Junior Guerra (2016) and Devin Williams (2020).

Pitching for his sixth organization since being drafted in 2016, Myers turned in five scoreless innings in his Game 3 start against the New York Mets in the teams’ National League wild-card series matchup. He became just the second rookie pitcher in franchise history to start a postseason game, joining Brandon Woodruff (Game 1 of the 2018 NL Division Series against the Colorado Rockies).

The 20-year-old Chourio, who signed a historic eight-year, $82 million contract last December despite having never played a game in the major leagues, hit .275 with 21 homers and 79 RBI with 22 stolen bases in 148 games.

Chourio on Sept. 12 became the youngest player in MLB history to reach 20 homers and 20 stolen bases in a season.

Left-hander Jared Koenig was voted Brewers unsung hero. A free-agent signee and non-roster invite to spring training, the 30-year-old went 9-4 with a 2.47 ERA, WHIP of 1.24 and a save in 55 games, including six outings as an opener. He limited opponents to a collective .229 batting average with 63 strikeouts in 62 innings.
