The Milwaukee County Zoo's annual Halloween event, Boo at the Zoo , is set for this weekend. Here's what to know.

What is Boo at the Zoo?

Visitors are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes, and there are several family-friendly activities to do at the event, including the following:

    • trick-or-treating through the Adventure Africa exhibit with stops at 10 different locations
    • "not-so-spooky" decorations, including hundreds of carved pumpkins, and a light show
    • Halloween-themed experiments by Mad Science of Milwaukee
    • a haystack maze
    • live entertainment
    • food and beverage stands

Can you see the animals at Boo at the Zoo?

Outdoor animals will be in their not-open-to-the-public buildings at the time of the event and therefore will not be viewable. But several public animal buildings will be open, including the aquatic and reptile center, the dairy complex, Florence Mila Borchert Big Cat Country, the primate building, the small mammals building and Sterns Family Apes of Africa.

When is Boo at the Zoo?

The event is from Thursday, Oct. 17, through Sunday, Oct. 20. Hours are 5:30-9 p.m.

How much is admission to Boo at the Zoo?

Pre-purchased tickets — available online — are required for the event. Adult tickets cost $16, and tickets for children ages 3-12 are $14. Children 2 and under are free. Parking is included in the ticket price. Zoo Pass members receive a 15% discount with the code halloween15 and their membership number.
