Packers fans embrace new kicker Brandon McManus at Lambeau Field and on social media after his game-winning field goal

Green Bay Packers fans have seen game-winning field goals before.

But this one felt different. How could it not? Brandon McManus' field goal as time expired to give the Packers a 24-22 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday at Lambeau Field was pure ecstasy.

After a season-plus of kicking woes from the likes of Anders Carlson and Brayden Narveson and not finding a solution from anyone else, the Packers looked to turn the page from the nightmare that the position has caused with the signing of the 31-year-old McManus this week .

It was then only fitting for McManus to have his moment during a gorgeous day in front of the Packers faithful.

It's just one kick but McManus became a hero after his field goal — his first ever as a Packer and at Lambeau Field — went through the uprights.

He celebrated with a Lambeau Leap and fans, who were all decked out in their white for the Winter Warning gam e, welcomed him with open arms.

Social media did as well with the realization that after cycling through many kickers the team might have finally found an answer at the all-important position.
