A Milwaukee womanis wanted for a failed murder-for-hire-plot in the United Kingdom, according to t he British tabloid The Daily Mail on June 12, 2024.
Milwaukee's Aimee Betro flew to the U.K. for a contract killing disguised in a hijab, reported the Telegraph.
A prosecutor said that on the day of the failed shooting, Betro wore a hijab to disguise herself, got out of a Mercedes and “calmly” walked toward the target, and pointed a gun at him, reports WGN-TV.
According to The Daily Mail, Betro is a former Milwaukee Brewers employee. The Wisconsin Law Journal spoke with Milwaukee Brewers spokeswoman Lesie Stachowiak Friday morning, who said she could neither confirm nor deny if Betro was a Brewers employee.
The Wisconsin Law Journal also spoke with the Milwaukee Brewers' Human Resources Department's employment verification department, which said all inquiries about Betro need to go through the media relations team, who had already declined to comment.
Chicago news station WGN-TV reported it too was unable to receive confirmation from the Milwaukee Brewers.
However, according to LinkedIn, Betro worked for the Milwaukee Brewers from 2014-2019 as a Telephone Sales Representative.
Also on Friday, the Wisconsin Law Journal spoke to multiple employees of the FBI Milwaukee, who all declined to comment on the matter.
According to WGN, the men who allegedly hired Betro, Mohammed Nazir and his son, Mohammed Aslam, were recently found guilty of conspiracy in Birmingham Crown Court, the newspaper Birmingham Live reported .
WGN noted "Betro continues to elude British authorities," the reports said. Without naming Betro, a West Midlands Police spokesman said in a statement to WGN that "efforts to locate a woman we believe to have been involved in the conspiracy continue."
According to a U.K. prosecutor, the assignation attempt failed because her gun jammed.
According to The Daily Mail, Betro, 44, " flew over from her native Milwaukee to kill boutique clothing store owner Sikander Ali on the orders of rival Mohammed Aslam, 56, and his son Mohammed Nazir, 30. "
