Firework displays at Milwaukee parks have not been canceled despite the weather forecast, the mayor's office said.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms late on July Fourth, but it's likely the storm won't impact the Milwaukee area until after sunset.

Mayor Cavalier Johnson's spokesperson, Jeff Fleming, said, "The current plan is to go ahead with the fireworks displays as early as darkness allows."

Fleming added that local media would be notified if anything changes.

At least three communities in Wisconsin (Green Lake, Fond du Lac and Kohler ) have canceled fireworks this evening.
